Pilot network of road weather stations in Bulgaria

Bulgaria took delivery of the CrossMet device by CROSS for collecting weather-related data on motorways and main roads in Bulgaria in 2015. This provides the client with current and historical data on meteorological conditions that affect roads. Each road weather station is equipped with a CrossMet datalogger and sensors for the road surface, air temperature and relative temperature, precipitation and visibility, as well as an ultrasonic sensor for measuring wind speed and direction, other accessories, a switchboard with a power supply and a communication unit. In total, 11 road meteorological stations were fitted that transmit data over the GSM network (GPRS, etc.), which operate in a single network benefiting from a unified display and interpretation system.
