The system is based on new traffic light controllers at 9 intersections and 84 onboard units, which are located in public transport vehicles. These units communicate wirelessly with the controllers, and as the public transport vehicle approaches an intersection, the system either extends the interval for green at the traffic light or sends a signal to the driver to wait at the stop to avoid unnecessarily stopping for a red light. The intersections were also supplemented with cameras, allowing users to observe circumstances in real time.
